How To Eliminate Credit Card Debt – Setting Objectives

Introduction

As soon as you see the phrase “setting objectives” you probably think of business rather than personal objectives; that is, if you think of anything at all. Setting objectives? It all sounds very formal and impersonal. If I say to you that you can bring it down to a personal level, and in relation to your finances and debts, you may well start to think of counselling, and someone telling you what to do, how much you can spend and other such impositions to get your debt level down to more manageable proportions. That is not what I am referring to, though.

Objective setting is always a matter of much debate, and is not necessarily a precise science. I strongly believe, however, that setting objectives on a personal level can have far more powerful results than within the artificial constraints of a business. You can use techniques of setting and monitoring objectives in just about every area of your personal life; they are not just for business. When it comes to business objectives, what do they really boil down to? Motivating individuals, at a personal level; without the individuals, business objectives are worthless.

So, we can forget about business and concentrate on you, your finances, your outstanding debts, most particularly your credit card debts. I use the word “debts” in the true sense; even if you are completely up to date with your payments, if you owe money, you have a debt or debts. Credit card debts are expensive; the interest rates are high. Your financial strength will improve over the years if you can minimize or even eliminate credit card debts. Paying credit card interest is like making regular gifts to the bank; they are not “laughing all the way to the bank”, they are already in it, they own it and they feed hungrily off your money to keep it looking spick-and-span. Yes, your money!

Do you not find it ironic? The bank packages their offer of a credit card as if it is a gift to you, when all the time it is a bait to set a trap. Once in the cage, you have to make regular gifts to them. Fail to deliver and…………well, that’s another story. Wouldn't you rather give extra gifts to your loved ones?

For now, let us focus on your money. I’ll say that again, your money. To really set about eliminating credit card debt from your financial portfolio, you need to start to change the mind set of the brainwashed credit consumer. You need to assert control, take over the helm, and steer a more beneficial course; a course that you can navigate with pinpoint precision through the fog of the credit card society.

It will be no easy journey; the fog is thick and endless. But your driving forces are:

1. You are going to be different;

2. You are rejecting the brainwashing of the credit card society;

3. You are the sole boss of your money;

4. You are the sole boss of your credit contracts;

5. The banks will get no more money out of you than you decide is right.
