Do you have a clear idea what your credit card really costs you? Many people may think that they do, whereas in fact there are often hidden fees hidden fees for theiry credit card. If you don’t watch closely, your credit card company may in the end charge you hundreds of extra dollars per year without you ever really knowing it!

Credit Card Fees And How To Eliminate Them
Interest Free Periods
In the past, we have usually had the benefit of interest free, or grace periods, before interest charges started to take effect. For example, if we used our credit card to its limit, and could get it paid off before the grace period expired, then it would be like am interest free loan. That, of course, was very desirable......for the credit card holder.
Unfortunately, the credit card companies are not so generous these days. To begin with, many of them have reduced the traditional 30 day grace period to something like 20-25 days. If you hold a credit card, but did not realize things were changing in this respect, then you could well be paying interest without even knowing it! Even worse, more and more credit card companies are eliminating grace periods altogether. That means if you get charged interest from the moment your card is charged.
For your own credit cards, you need to take a close look at the fine prin,t and find out what kind of grace period, if any, you have. If your credit card company has reduced it significantly, or eliminated it altogether, you should seriously consider cancelling it, and finding a more generous credit card company
Late Payment Fees
Do you know the amount your credit card company charges you for a late payment fee? These fees have doubled in only the past ten years, and that, combined with the reduced grace period, means that the credit card companies are finding late fees lucrative! That's good for them but not good for you.
To eliminate these charges, you should try and send your payment immediately you receive your credit card bill. There are three good reasons why it is important not to be late. The first is obvious; you should do everything in your power to avoid a large late payment charge. Secondly, if you are late, it will likely be reported to the credit agency, and that would mean a bad mark on your credit report. The third is the direst, and we’ll discuss it below.
Interest Rate Hikes
Did you know that if you are late with your payment, even one time, the company may raise your interest rates? One late payment can give them the right to do so. Furthermore, that increase is not just limited to your credit card payment. Any late payments from any lender that show up on your credit report justifies them to raising your rates, so you do have a good incentive to keep all your credit payments up to date and on time, not just those of your credit card!
